Sweet, lyrical, authentic jazz
Every now and again a truly charming artist emerges. Heartfelt, genuine and commanding, Sharny Russell’s repertoire is fresh and original, whilst divinely musical and accessible for new fans of the jazz genre. Launching her new album “Comes A Time” around the country, the APRA Award winning pianist/vocalist/composer presents compositions and classic standards for her local music-loving community.
Based in Byron Bay, Sharny has had an extraordinary career as an educator, writer and musician. After being told she may never sing again after suffering near-fatal cranio facial injuries when she was just starting out on her jazz career, her talent and determination has seen her go from strength to strength. With multiple works published in The Australian Jazz Real Book and the Australian Hymn book, she has written over 160 songs and four musicals, and even completed a stint as music director on iconic Australian television show “Here’s Humphrey”.
Sharny will be joined by the cream of Brisbane musicians, Jamie Clark on guitar, bassist Helen Russell, drummer Joe Marchisella, and Martha Baartz on sax and flute.
Don’t miss your chance to see a truly unique and versatile artist.
